WHY COMPETE? WHAT WAS IT THAT PROPELLED YOU INTO WRESTLING?
I’ve always been sporty and competitive. I love to excel in everything I do and I love the satisfaction that comes from hard work. I watched wrestling with my big brother Jake as a child and always wanted to be like the Divas I watched on TV. Lita and Trish Stratus stand out in my memory because they were tough and athletic while being hot and desirable too! That’s impressive… That’s what I wanted to be!
WHAT WORDS OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO ANY INSIRING WRESTLER?
If you want to be a Professional then you need to make it a lifestyle and take it seriously. Do your homework, stay in shape, eat well and be a role model. Also make sure you get the best training and do it right! I was trained by one of the best – Lance Storm at the Storm Wrestling Academy. His training and advice is invaluable and made all the difference.
WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT IN WRESTLING?
My most memorable moment would have to be when I wrestled for ECCW (Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling) at their biggest even of the year – Halloween Hell! The fans got to pick the stipulation of my match and they chose TABLES! The atmosphere was exhilarating and my match concluded with me being thrown all the way from the top rope to the ground through a table! It was crazy! It didn’t matter that had been defeated, the crowd was going nuts and as I laid on the ground after going through the table all I could think was “I did it!”.
DESCRIBE THE FIRST TIME YOU EVER STEPPED INTO THE RING? WERE YOU NERVOUS?
I’m always a little nervous before I step out of the curtain, it’s only natural. I can honestly say that my first time on a show I was very young and far from ready! So yes, I was extremely nervous! I recall my heart was pounding and my mind was racing and that combined with the excitement, it made me feel sick to my stomach. It was soooo much fun though and I fell more and more in love with wrestling.
WHAT IS YOUR TRAINING ROUTINE?
Right now I train 5 days a week. My workout consists of high reps and a continuous flow from one exercise to the next. In between each circuit I do 5 min intervals of cardio also. It’s intense circuit training!
WHAT TYPE OF DIET DO YOU BELIEVE IN AND FOLLOW?
I generally don’t like the idea of no carb diets. I believe having a balanced diet really works for me. Depending on what I’m training for the amount of carbs may vary obviously, but I find if I tried to cut all carbs out, then it can only last for a short period of time. I don’t want my body fluctuating each time my diet does. If I have a high protein diet with moderate carb intake then I can maintain this constantly and work on my body in conjunction while feeling energetic and happy.
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR FAVORITE FINISHING MOVE AND WHY?
My favorite finisher would have to be my Yakuza Kick. I basically come running off the ropes and follow through to kick my opponent right in the side of the face! It looks brutal and impressive so I love it. I guess the mentality of lots of fans is that girls aren’t tough and they’re expecting us female wrestlers to be girly in the ring too… So I like to challenge that! The guys get right into it! A good looking girl that’s tough too… What’s not to love? Haha.
WHAT IS YOUR WEAKEST PHYSICAL CHALLENGE?
I have dislocated my shoulder in the past so that’s something I work on strengthening everyday.
WHAT IS YOUR STRONGEST PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTE?
Let’s just say that my wrestling outfit shows a lot of skin… which leads to lots of comments about my chest haha. I’m pretty happy with my stomach too!
AFTER A MATCH, WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU WANT TO EAT?
I have to make sure I eat well and look good leading up to each wrestling match. After the show the pressure is off and that’s when I get to cheat or splurge a little. Pizza usually enters this equation!
THE ONE THING YOU HATE ABOUT WRESTLING?
I hate that I don’t get enough of it right now. Independent shows are only a few times a month. If I’m lucky I’ll have a busy month where I’m travelling and wrestling every weekend… I want to be wrestling every DAY!
THE BEST THING ABOUT WRESTLING?
That’s tough! Just one??? Hmm… I love portraying a character and telling a story. If I can draw the crowd into my match and have them chanting and reacting at the perfect times then I can feel the vibe and I thrive off of it. It means I’m doing my job well and it’s very satisfying and rewarding.
HOW HAS THE SPORT BENEFITTED YOUR OUTLOOK ON LIFE?
Throughout the years being involved in wrestling I have become so aware of how I look and act on an everyday basis that it’s not funny! Everything I do these days relates completely to wrestling. I’ve become so aware of how I need to look to be a Diva and the confidence that needs to come with it. I’ve realized how wrestling is and needs to be a lifestyle is not just a hobby. I’ve taken advice about diets, I’ve researched, I’ve trained hard and improved my eating habits and my ‘look’ immensely over the years. Wrestling has helped me to become a much healthier and more confident young lady!
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HAVE IN STORE FOR YOU?
I recently starred in a wrestling reality TV series called ‘World of Hurt’. WoH hosts an international cast of advanced students and takes you inside the wrestling ring and shows you what it takes to be a Pro under the guidance of Lance Storm, a star in the wrestling industry! This series will air nationally across Canada on ‘The Cave’ in March 2011.
I will also be performing at multiple ECCW wrestling events over the coming months and am currently training hard working towards a WWE tryout in March!
IF YOU WEREN’T A WRESTLER, WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING?
That is hard to envision! However… Seeing my love also for cooking and food, I would have to pursue a career in this industry and I’d love to have my own café one day!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHEAT FOOD OR MEAL?
I have many favorites! If I had to pick one I’d have to go with ICE CREAM!!! Mmmmmm!
IN A RING MATCH, WHO DO YOU THINK WOULD WIN? HULK HOGAN OR BRUCE LEE?
Hogan for sure! Bruce Lee is one hell of an athlete no questions about it. He’s no wrestler though!
